India’s Coloured Gemstones exports up 22.11% YoY

Rough diamonds export April-November declined by 24.74%

Recently, India released fact-n-figure for export / import of Gem & Jewellery (GJ) for the period April 2023 – November 2023 as compared to same period last year. Gross Imports of rough diamonds at US$ 8793.90 million (Rs 72577.52 crores) in April 2023 – November 2023 have shown a decline of 24.74% (-21.57% Rs. term) compared with the imports at US$ 11684.5 million (Rs. 92541.43 crores) for previous year.

In volume terms gross Import of rough diamonds at 749.95 lakhs carats during April 2023 – November 2023 has shown a decline of 12.180% compared with the imports at 853.95 lakhs carats during previous year.

At the Polished Lab Grown Diamonds front, provisional gross export of Polished Lab Grown Diamonds for the period November 2023 registered at US$ 108.74 million (in Rs. 908.89 crores) shows growth of 3.16% (5.53% in Rs. term) over the comparative figure of US$ 105.41 million (Rs. 861.28 crores) for previous year.

Looking at the April 2023 – November 2023, provisional gross export of Polished Lab Grown Diamonds for the period totaled at US$ 941.1 million (in Rs. 7783.24 crores) shows decline of 23.35% (-20.12% in Rs. term) over the comparative figure of US$ 1227.77 million (Rs. 9743.28 crores) for previous year.

Provisional gross export of Coloured Gemstones for the period April 2023 – November 2023 reached at US$ 322.21 million (in Rs. 2665.13 crores) shows growth of 22.11% (27.42% in Rs. term) over the comparative figure of US$ 263.86 million (Rs. 2091.64 crores) for previous year.
